Happy Birthday Molly!

Today Molly is two weeks old!  I still cannot believe it  and I am still shocked that she came when she did.  I went into active labor barely two days after writing that last post.  And no, I didn't make it to my doctors appointment like I was so convinced I would.

On Sunday night I started to have more consistent contractions that were starting to become painful.  At about 2 am my mom drove me to the hospital so I could find out if I was actually in labor.  They wanted to monitor me for an hour before they would say anything but Austin decided to go ahead and drive in.  An hour went by and nothing had changed so they sent me home.  I was so angry because that was exactly what I didn't want to happen...have Austin drive three hours for nothing.  Waste of gas.  Waste of time.  Waste of energy.  All in the middle of the night.  Or so I thought.  He was already to Brenham by the time I was sent home so we decided he should just finish his drive so he could sleep for a few hours before heading back home.

Well, as I constantly have to remind myself, things always happen for a reason and you have to trust in the process.  I woke up at about 8:30 Monday morning with more contractions and by 9:00 my water had broken.  We headed back to the hospital where they admitted me and I waited for the moment I would hold my baby girl.

At 4:28 p.m. Molly was born!!  19 inches and 6 lbs 2.2 oz. of perfection.

Proud Daddy!

I am very thankful that I was able to have a natural labor but I wouldn't have been able to make it through the end without the help of Austin and my mom.  They created a very calm, peaceful, and quiet environment for me and helped me to stay focused.

Going Home

First Car Ride

First Bluebonnet Picture
On our way home from the hospital we drove by a field of bluebonnets.  It was too irresistible and I couldn't help but stop for her very first bluebonnet pictures.  She slept right through it!

I am still trying to gather all of the pictures off of everyone's cameras and phones.  I know there are some better ones and more special ones out there still but I will get them in time.  I am learning how your priorities change when you become a mom.  It was silly of me to think that I would be able to easily keep up with a blog once she was born.  I know I will continue to write but it is not nearly as easy anymore.  In fact, the only reason I am able to update right now is because Molly is napping like an angel and my professor hasn't posted my work for the week yet.  She is going to be waking up soon so I will just post a few more pictures from her first two weeks of life!

She is really good at getting out of her swaddle.  This time she got out of her pajamas too!
